SMP cost and payment options

Cost of SMP for Men

The Norwood Scale is commonly used to assess the severity of hair loss in men. It consists of several stages or levels, each representing a different degree of hair loss pattern. The cost of SMP for men can vary depending on the stage of hair loss according to the Norwood Scale:

  • Norwood Stage 2: This stage involves minimal hair loss, usually a receding hairline. The cost of SMP for this stage can range from $500 to $1000.
  • Norwood Stage 3: In this stage, hair loss becomes more noticeable with a receding hairline and thinning at the crown. The price range for SMP in this stage is generally between $1000 and $1500.
  • Norwood Stage 4: Hair loss progresses further, with a prominent receding hairline and significant thinning at the crown. SMP for this stage may cost between $1500 and $2000.
  • Norwood Stage 5: At this stage, hair loss is more extensive, and there may be a horseshoe-shaped pattern of hair remaining on the sides and back of the head. SMP for this stage can range from $2000 to $2500.
  • Norwood Stage 6 and 7: These stages involve significant hair loss, with only a limited amount of hair remaining on the sides and back. SMP for these stages may cost between $2500 and $3000.

Cost of SMP for Women

For women, the pricing is typically determined based on the Ludwig Scale, which assesses female pattern hair loss. The cost can vary depending on the extent of hair loss.

  1. Ludwig Stage 1 – Mild Hair Thinning: In this initial stage, hair thinning primarily affects the crown (top) of the head. The hairline remains intact, but a noticeable widening of the parting line becomes apparent. Overall, the hair loss is relatively mild, and the scalp may still have partial hair coverage. Prices for SMP in this stage typically range from $500 to $800.
  2. Ludwig Stage 2 – Moderate Hair Thinning: As hair thinning progresses to a moderate level, Stage 2 is characterised by  greater visibility of the scalp, especially in the top and crown areas, becomes noticeable and hair density continues to decrease.  The cost of SMP in this stage generally falls within the range of $800 to $1600.
  3. Ludwig Stage 3 – Advanced Hair Thinning: This stage represents the most advanced level of female pattern hair loss. Extensive hair thinning and density is significantly reduced, and large areas of the scalp may exhibit baldness or very sparse hair coverage. SMP prices for this stage typically range from $1600 to $2500.
